Please post your reasons in support of your choice for the Heisman Trophy here. I'm all about Stanford Football, but even if I weren't I'd have had Toby on my list of top 5 and after what he did tonight, he would have jumped to number one. Let me know who you have up on your list.

This a quick one: When I heard all of the hype about the Lakers potentially breaking the Chicago Bulls' single season record of 72-10, I was quite confused as to what everyone was seeing that made them think (i) such a feat could ever be accomplished again and (ii) that the band of makeshift players supporting Kobe Bryant would be sufficient to do it against the likes of the 2009-2010 version of the Nuggets, Rockets, Spurs, Warriors, Clippers, Celtics, Cavaliers, Hornets, Magics, Suns ... should I continue... Then I chuckled to myself and said we'll just have to wait and see. Sure enough, only 10 games into the season, the holes that I thought existed with this 2009-2010 version of the Lakers, against a revamped and re-amped Western Conference, have been exposed. So much for 72-10, at this rate they're look at a 58 win season tops!

So we've got the Olympics geared up with record breakers, coasting-sprinters, medal hoarders and chuckers; but I want to hear from you about your amazing sports story of the year (dating back 'all the way' to January 2008) even local sports is fair game, like the high-schooler that won the state 1A championship all by herself:

An increasingly annoying and festering pet peeve of mine about some people on this site is the random rating of people with one star. I'm of the opinion that if you really don't like what someone has to say then yes, feel free to rate them a one star. But if there statements are innocuous and clearly not intended to stir any controversial comments, then giving them a one star should earn you at least 10 one stars by people who side with the victim. But it seems that 99% of my one star ratings are not coming as retaliation for when someone gives my post a one star. I'm thinking that it just isn't enough for me to rate them, we need to form a coalition of friends that will help send a message.

Let's start with this blogger, ravefan66, who thought it appropriate to give my innocuous thread a one star and I sure as hell hope you all scrutinize ravefan66's threads and help me pay back in kind!

Seems that every piece of the puzzle has fallen back into place for them all over again.  Anyone thing that they can lose the West?  State why.

Tell me which team do you think made out like a bandit this year and which team totally bombed the draft.   

This year seems to be a time for making and obliterating history. Everywhere unbelievable things just keep happening. I mean, even though the Superbowl didn't end with an undefeated season, we still had an undefeated team in the Superbowl. Has anyone else notice that the balance of professional sports has completely normalized (except of course in Golf and I don't think we'll see that happening anytime soon, but more on that later)?

BASEBALL
Looks like baseball (although if Bean Town wins again I may have to eat these words) no longer seems to be in the hands of a few, with viable teams on both sides of the league and more good players to spread the love.

BASKETBALL
The West is amazing, but now there finally is a powerhouse (other than the Pistons) to contend and very likely win it all from the East.

HOCKEY
Juicy, just plain juicy how many teams have decent opportunities to do something in this year's Stanley Cup. I think Hockey is finally back.

On to the celebrations:

GOLF
The gods were smiling when they saw Tiger Woods. But as much as we thought we knew about this guy, he continues to amaze by showing us that there's more to come. I tip my glass to you Mr. Woods.

FOOTBALL
Belichick has apologized, so I guess we can move on, but I'm more impressed by the way the Giants took it to the 21st Century Dynasty in a game they were 'destined' to win. I have to admit that I secretly wished that the Patriots had won, since I had plenty on the line (lol).

COLLEGE HOOPS
Can anybody say, my bracket is frocked! I never even considered that the committee was on the right track, but four number 1s in the final four!? Kudos to the committee and a tip of my glass to Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina and UCLA.

BASKETBALL
The Celtics are 59-15? or did someone mistype, should it have been the 15-59? What the super trio is doing in Boston is nothing short of stupendous. And it's not very often that a GM strikes gold and finds the right combination of players to pull such a magical act off. I tip my glass to the Celts.
